Things that you should know

  • You should read the Primer for a general idea oh the story setting and module backdrop.
  • Full Repair’s will not come readily, you will need to fight several combats without a Full Repair, though you may use your limited Repair credits as you see fit. Per the college handbook:
    • Students are intentionally given restricted access to the frame printers to better simulate the conditions of being deployed in a warzone. Students should use the provided resources wisely instead of relying on the luxury of fast and available printers.
  • Shadow of the Wolf leans on a relationship system with several of the main NPC’s and in turn you can both be hindered or aided by fostering relations. Becoming friendly with someone may give you access to new Frames, equipment, or additional repairs. While the main plot points may stay pretty on rails, who is involved in conflicts and what tools you have at your disposal are up to your relationships!

Things you should think about when character building

  • You should have some idea of your background, and why you would have applied or been scouted to attend the most prestigious college in all of Throne Karrakis. Keeping in mind you are not yet some long lived war veteran or universally acclaimed pilot, but you may have made a name for yourself in other ways. And sometimes you may just have known the right person who knew the right person on the requirement committee (see next point).
  • You should have a Sponsor of some flavor. To get where you are today, and survive your days in the college, you likely need ties to someone in power. This is likely a relation to one of the major Houses, the Baronic Unified Command (BUC), or one of the major companies. Most importantly, they are likely not helping you out of plain goodwill, so there will be some strings attached…
    • Who is this person?
    • Why did they help you?
    • What do they expect in return?
  • Have an idea of which of the Courses of the college your character would be good/bad, or interested. More details about these courses in Shadow of the Wolf, The Syllabi and Shadow of the Wolf, SAMPLE CLASSES (don’t read the rest of section 3)
    • Tactical Syllabus teaches the uses of mechanized chassis in warfare
    • Technical Syllabus teaches how repair, maintain, build, and procure mechs
    • Noble Arts Syllabus teaches leadership, philosophy, history and the passions
  • Take a look at the Bonds and have an idea of which one would suit your character the best. These will not be relevant until LL1, but it may help steer choices or character designs.

Things the GM needs from you

  • A Compcon share code for your mech & pilot build
  • A Patron/Sponsor (see above)
